We were in Hearts Together for many weeks as our baby was in Derriford Hospital and I can't recommend this hotel enough. Every single day the staff said hello, kept everything squeaky clean and the facilities are fantastic. Liz especially made us feel so warmly welcomed and would ask after our little boy when she saw us in the corridor. The ground as well are extremely pleasant with shrubs, lawn, wild deer visiting nearly everyday and looks out over the nearby reserve. Parking was never an issue. 100% recommend Hearts Together and to those being housed here through a charity, don't worry you will be so comfortable and looked after, we always had a better night's sleep even on the worst days. THANK YOU TO ALL THE STAFF , From James and Sophie
What a fantastic place & facility during a time when you need it most. Very comfortable surroundings, great facilities and within 10 minutes walk of Derriford Hospital. It really was such a relief and help to help you cope during a difficult time.
Fantastic place, just 10 minute walk from Tavistock and Nuffield hospitals. Rooms were immaculately clean, as was the communal kitchen/diner. There were guest fridges and freezers, bread, croissants, cereals, fruit and jam to help yourself. There were even ready meals in the freezer that you could have as long as you made a donation. Staff were lovely too. The deer running in the grounds was a bonus. All in all highly recommended.
This charity is a real Godsend. Everyone you speak to is lovely and all the facilities are clean and in some cases better thought out than a commercial hotel. It’s a lovely quiet location and just a few minutes walk to the hospital (although they have a little bus if you need help). This is just what you need when you’re feeling emotional - a professional ‘home from home’.
I initially booked for two weeks as my wife was due major surgery at Derriford Hospital. Daily travel would not really have been feasible. In the end I stayed for over 5 weeks due to complications with her treatment. We had not heard of Hearts together until a friend mentioned them and I am so grateful that she did. Being run by a Charity the accommodation is nowhere near as expensive as the local lodges/hotels and includes a basic continental breakfast (cereals, bread, croissants. etc.) in the price. Tea coffee and juice is always available. There is a large and airy communal eating room and for those wishing to cook their own food (or do their washing) there is another kitchen. The rooms are basic but have all that is needed including a TV. Servicing is once a week (or on changeover) other than emptying the bins. Being next to a nature reserve there is bird song and visits by deer and squirrels as well as an attractive wooded vista from the balcony which offers outdoor seating. The team that run the Hotel are without exception brilliant. They are entirely guest focussed and endeavour to assist as much as possible with whatever is requested/asked. There are counsellors that visit regularly and chat informally in the community room or offer private sessions to those that wish to take advantage of the service - they offer an outreach service to provide ongoing support. There is a complimentary shuttle service using a Nissan EV running guests to several destinations as well as the hospital itself. This is available, subject to staff availability and between certain hours. I understand that they have to turn away requests for thousands of bed nights each year due to limitations of size and with the ongoing expansion of services at Derriford (they also serve The Nuffield and various other health related services locally) they are keen to undertake an ambitious building plan for which they already hold planning permission. This is a multi-million spend and they need support of as many people as possible. In summary this is a brilliant facility and I don't really know how I would have survived a traumatic period without their availability and friendly support.
Travelled 2 hours from home for husband to have operation, which required overnight stay at derriford hospital . Hearts together hotel, for patients, family who want to be near loved ones. Peaceful setting, on the edge of a nature reserve, just a short walk from the hospital. Clean and comfortable, offering free continental breakfast, tea, coffee Kitchen diner area, with fridges, freezers, microwaves where you can store your own food, really convenient that you can cook prepare food when you want, to suit your needs around hospital visits. If you were to need a long stay this is really helpful, no need to eat out incurring more costs. Staff are friendly and helpful. Cheaper than other hotels in area and if you dont need to stay as long as you thought you only get charged for your actual stay. This is an amazing place, a real gem Thankyou for being there.
We used this wonderful place when we had to stay near Derriford. Certainly as good as any Travelodge, the rooms are excellent. Breakfast included. Staff who understand that you are there at a difficult time. And yes we saw a huge stag outside of our window. Recommended without hesitation.
Really nice place to stay, very close to Nuffield hospital. Fab shared kitchen with guest fridge and freezer to store food. Complementary breakfast. The rooms are en suite, roomy and have a TV, wardrobe etc. Wild deer are often in the grounds too!
